A clinical intelligence platform to support medical decisions and help reduce clinical error
Avoidable medical errors are caused not by health professionals’ lack of skills, but rather by the huge complexity of providing health care. This is why they need the support of good technology when making critical decisions.
MedicineOne has created Clinical Brain, a clinical intelligence platform to support medical decisions and help reduce clinical error that unites all the clinical management systems that assist in the prescription of medications, thereby adding a safety net in prescription processes.
Ongoing training of health professionals
In addition to improving prescription quality, Clinical Brain also contributes to physicians’ ongoing training by drawing attention to serious and moderate interactions. Over the last six years, the Portuguese community of Clinical Brain users has shown a constant reduction in the rate of prescriptions generating potential serious adverse events, which just goes to show the training achieved by health care providers with the help of the system. From 2017 to 2022, the number of prescriptions generating serious alerts fell from 17.3% to 10.2%.
Value-based healthcare
Value-based healthcare (VBHC) is a health approach aimed at improving results for patients in terms of healthcare costs. The main focus of VBHC is to ensure that patients receive the most appropriate care at the right time and at the best possible cost.
The main idea is to change the traditional perspective of health, which often concentrates on the volume of services provided, to one that prioritises the quality and efficacy of these services. This means measuring the health results that really matter for patients and using the information to guide clinical decisions and allocate resources.
In short, VBHC seeks to promote healthcare that is more focused on the patient and this leads to better health outcomes and more efficient use of resources.
The first step towards reducing
the margin of error is to find it.
